Betty M. Weaver, 84, passed away Thursday May 7, 2009 at the Cortland Care Center. She was born September 8, 1924 in Cortland NY, the daughter of the late Fay & Mary White Weaver. Betty had been a lifelong resident, and a graduate of Cortland High School. She worked at AB Brown, Brockway Truck Co., and most recently the American Red Cross in Tully. Her past times included bowling and baking. She played in several area bowling leagues serving as secretary, and was inducted into the Cortland Bowling Hall of Fame. One of her greatest passions in life were roosters, collecting various rooster memorabilia. She is survived by her brother Charlie (Mary) Weaver of Las Vegas NV, care giver Julie Sweet of Cortland many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held 1-2 pm Monday May 11, with a memorial service to follow 2 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc 9 Lincoln Ave Cortland NY. Burial will follow the service at the Cincinnatus Cemetery. Following Bettys committal prayers at the cemetery, a committal service will be held for Bettys brother in law Robert Sorrells who passed away in January of 2009. Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the Brockway Truck Museum. Condolences: Martin and I are so very sorry to hear about Betty.
