Ronald L. "Speedy" Taylor, 54, of Gracie Rd., Cortland passed away Friday Jan. 9, 2009 at his home. He was born November 3, 1954 in Bellefonte PA, the son of the late Donald and Alice Muirhead Taylor, Sr. He has been a longtime resident of the area, graduating from Cortland High School in 1973. Speedy was employed at the Cortland Highway Dept. for many years. He was a past member of the Cortland Moose Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, bowling, softball, and darts. Speedy was also an avid NASCAR , Yankee, and Penn State fan. He had many friends and family and will be dearly missed. Speedy is survived by his longtime companion Andrea Aylesworth, his children Anita (John Nichols) Taylor, Wendy Aylesworth, Richard (Stacey) Aylesworth, his brothers Donald (Kathryn) Taylor, Barry (Annette) Taylor, his grandchildren Taylyn, Ereiklee, Madelyne, Ryan, and Brandon, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday January 12, 2009 at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045. Spring Burial will be at the Virgil Cemetery. Calling hours are 12-2 pm at Wright-Beard Funeral Home prior to the services. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
