Robert Al Sprouse, 81, of Moore Rd. East Homer, passed away unexpectedly June 19, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sprouse was born October 31, 1928 in New London, VA. the son of Willie and Susie Wilson Sprouse. Mr. Sprouse had been a longtime resident of the area. He had been an active member of the East Homer Methodist Church. Al was currently employed as the manager of Cortland Bulk Milk. Mr. Sprouse is survived by his wife of eighteen years Brenda Davis Sprouse, two sons; Mark (Mary Kay) of Annapolis, Md and Scott (Peggy) of Estes Park, CO. two daughters; Stephanie Andersen of Cortland and Alison (Bill) Mastroe of E. Homer. Two step daughters, Lisa (David) Hauck of Virgil and Denise (Dennis) Maroney-Hollenbeck of Cortland. One sister Janie (Carl) Hinkle of Truxton. Eighteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his first wife Gwendolyn B. Sprouse in October of 1988. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the East Homer Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the East Homer Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the East Homer Methodist Church c/o or the American Cancer Society. My condolences to Brenda and family. Al will be truly missed. My son's first response was "who is going to take care of "Uncle" Al's pigs? Our love to all.
