Obituary of Gabrielle Chaslin,

Gabrielle Chaslin, 78, of Venette St., Cortland NY, passed away August 4, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. She was born July 5, 1932 in Marseille, France, the daughter of the late Augustin and Micheline Rolland Baiani. Mrs. Chaslin immigrated to the United States in May of 1963. She was employed by Leonards Style Shop for 20 years until their closing, then went to the YWCA and worked in the Learning Adventure Program retiring in 2005. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Denise and Scott Morse of Cortland, grandchildren Eric C. Smith of Idaho, Karie C. Smith of Cortland, Jennifer E. Allen of McGraw,and Brandon Morse ,nine great grandchildren, and her brother Roger Baiani of France. A calling hour will be held Monday 2-3 pm followed by a memorial service to begin 3 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY. Simply put, I can't. I consider myself blessed beyond measure to have had her as my grandmother and friend. I am much of what I am today because of her. She was sacrificial, thoughtful, geniune, and spirited, all in her own special, small-French-woman, kind of way. I loved her for it, I will miss her for it. Life will not be the same. To my Nana-do, you'll live in my heart and memory. This is not good-bye, just see you in a while. In time we'll be together again. Take care, I know you're in good hands, I LOVE YOU!
