Obituary of Antonio Giovanni Dalola

Antonio Giovanni Dalola Tony, 75 of Cortland, New York went to be with his angels on September 15, 2010 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tony was born in Cortland on January 31, 1935, son of the late John Robert and Amelia (Doloisio) Dalola. He was predeceased by his brothers John R. Dalola and Albert J. Dalola. He was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Cortland. Tony was a life-long resident of Cortland, graduating from Cortland high school in 1953. He served in both the US Navy as well as the US Air Force as a teletype operator during the Korean War. Tony worked locally, including Pall Trinity Micro until his retirement. Thereafter he spent his time as an aspiring decorator, taking pleasure painting and wall-papering for friends and family alike. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed people, dancing and appreciated a good joke. He was a quiet, gentle and unassuming man with a big smile and a warm heart. Never one to sit idle, Tony enjoyed his frequent trips to Walmart and to Hafners and flea market in Syracuse. He also enjoyed spending time with his coffee club friends at the local diners. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Felecia M. (Yacono); three children: Derek A. of Cortland, John R. (Jenni) of Port Orange, FL, and Bethany C. Stiles (John) of Cortland; grandsons, Ethan H. Stiles of Cortland and soon to be born Antonio Giovanni II, of Port Orange, Fl.; sisters: Beverly Armstrong and Gloria Norwood (Butch) both of Cortland; sister-in-law and caregiver, Sandra L. Bordwell of Cortland; sister-in-law Rosemary Dalola of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Wright Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland. Friends may call 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
