Obituary of Louise M McLaughlin

Louise M. McLaughlin passed away at home on Friday, August 26, 2011. Louise was retired from the Dormitory Authority of the State of NY in Albany. Louise also worked for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in Cortland and was an Administrative Assistant at the JM Murray Center . She leaves behind a partner of many years, G. Gordon Behn of Guilderland, NY, a sister, Patricia (Reeves) Yallum and brother in law, joseph Yallum of PA, a brother Charles Reeves and sister in law Victoria Reeves, of Spencer, NY. Louise also leaves her five children, a daughter Kathleen McLaughlin of Cortland, a son Michael McLaughlin of Binghamton, a son Matthew McLaughlin of Cortland, a son Francis McLaughlin, Jr. and daughter in law, Dr. Summer McLaughlin of Florida, and a daughter, Beth (McLaughlin) Johnson and son in law, Eric Johnson, of Marathon. She also leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren, a grandson, Scott McLaughlin and a granddaughter, Erin Johnson. Louise also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Louise is pre-deceased by a sister Teresa Slebrich of PA, and a brother, Richard Reeves, of Ithaca, NY. Funeral services will be held Wedesday at 1:00 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland. In grammar school, the nun teaching us caught me trying to pass a love note to Louise and made me read it aloud to the class. I met her again in the late '60s when I moved to Hornell. Louise was a beautiful woman and I learned of her passing with genuine sorrow. May she rest in peace. Roland Rivers Please accept my sincere sympathy. I worked with Louise at the J.M.Murray Center. I met Louise last year at a breakfast with other DEC retirees and thought she was a really classy lady. My heart goes out to all of her family and Gordon.
