Obituary of Mitchell B. Fitts

Please share a memory of Mitchell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mitchell B. Fitts of Cortland, NY succumbed to catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome at age 21 on Tuesday, while at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. Mich is the fifth generation of our family to be born and raised in Cortland. Mitchell graduated Cortland Jr. Sr. High School in 2009 and was in his second year of studies at Tompkins Community College, when diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome which is a autoimmune disease. Mitch loved football and the training that came with the territory. This training and discipline followed him well after high school. Mastering his physical well-being was paramount in his life and it carried into the lives of his friends who he encouraged to workout. Mitch was taking criminal justice classes and aspired to work in Law Enforcement. Mitch is survived by his mother Tricia Fitts, Uncle Jeffrey Fitts, his grandparents Calvert Fitts and Gerry Fitts, great grandmother Diane Butler, great great uncle Stewart Leach, and a wealth of family and friends. He gave so much love to so many and a piece of all of us will forever be with him.A celebration of life will be held 7:00 pm Sunday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, friends and family are invited to call from 5:30 €“ 7:00 pm prior to the service. A reception will follow the service at the stone lounge. To offer online condolences visit www.wright-beard.com Mitchell, God gave me the blessing to have you apart of my life. I cant count how many times you made me laugh or smile. All those times we hung out growing up, when we were 12 or 13, the times we shared in highschool, and playing football, those I will always remember. You were a true friend to me. You were my first best friend I had. And with time, I will see you again someday my friend. My thoughts and prayers to family and friends, Love Martin Mitch, I always think of when we had Peer Ed together and I would come in everyday and say " Hi best friend!" and you would always make a funny comment. You were such a great friend to Martin and so many more. I'm glad I got to know you even if it was for such a short time. Martin and I are thinking of you always. Sending prayers and thoughts to your family and friends. Rest Peacefully.- Jordan Tricia and Family.. Sorry for your loss. I am honored to have met Mitch. Remembering Mitch as a young child, when we went to wrestling [through the Cortland Youth Bureau] we would have to tell Mitch to stop smiling so you can win your match [jokingly]. Always..always... had a smile on his face. Remembering the days he would come by the house and play video games with Kristopher. Such a great kid, who turned into a fine young man. Taken way to soon but apparently the Lord had other plans for Mitch, which at the moment we do not understand hopefully one day we will know the reason. Always The Burkhart Family
