Jerry Hopkins died on August 2nd, 2012 in Clayton, NC where he lived with his wife Susan Miller Hopkins. He was 74 years old. Jerry was born in Upstate New York on January 4, 1938. He was the first child of Harriet and Paul Hopkins. Growing up, Jerry worked on the family farm and then joined the US Air Force in 1956. He was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California where he was responsible for the complete airworthiness of theairframe, engines and all systems of the C130A.He left the Air Force in Dec 1964, at the rank of Airman First Class, after having received several good conduct medals. In 1964 he returned to New York State, Jerry changed professions and became a car salesman and later a dealership manager. As a salesman, he was known for his quick wit, his ability to close the sale and his trademark handlebar moustache. In 1988, Jerry and Susan relocated to NC. There they built a successful business called Sewing Solutions. Jerry is survived by his wife, Susan; two daughters, Kim Boroughs and her husband Ron Boroughs of Plano, TX, and Robin Hopkins and her partner Mary Littell of Brooklyn, NY; and his three grandchildren: Sydney Boroughs, Maxine Littell and Henry Littell. In addition, he is survived by one very sad cat named josie. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday October 6th at the Glenwood Cemetery in Homer, NY. Susan, Jerry was one of the best things that ever "happened to you". Such a sweet man. I know you'll miss him dearly, as will his daughters and grandchildren -- and josie! Our love to you all.
