Obituary of Thomas P Casey

Thomas P. Casey, 74, of Cortland passed away peacefully on December 6, 2012. He was born May 6, 1938 to the late John and Margaret Turney Casey. Tom is a lifetime resident of Cortland County. Tom graduated from St. Marys High School in 1956. Tom worked several jobs throughout his life and had many different fields of interest. Tom spent most of his career at Pall Trinity Micro Corporation where he served for over 20 years until his retirement in 1997. In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his brother James Casey. Tom is survived by three children; Paul Thomas, of Oneonta NY, Ann Margaret, of Ft. Collins CO and Luke Michael of Swanzey NH, his brother and sister; Tony (Pat) Casey and JoAnne Snyder. He especially loved and enjoyed his grandchildren; Caleb, Liam, and Kamryn. Tom loved his very large extended family including nieces and nephews. Tom passions in life included all mediums of art, poetry and classical music. He also enjoyed being a proud patron of the Little York Pavilion where he enjoyed the summer performances. Tom took great pride in being a member of the Ancient order of Hibernians and the Knights of Columbus. Calling hours are on Wednesday December 12 from 9:30-10:30AM at the Wright - Beard Funeral Home located at 9 Lincoln Ave. in Cortland NY. A funeral mass at St. Marys Catholic Church located at 1 N. J Miller Several Times I have heard Tom recite "Crossing the Bar" by Tennyson. He knew it by heart. I could tell it was very meaningful to him. We read poetry together on several occasions, and I have been acquainted with him for many years. I am paraphrasing the last verse here for Tom. For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood did bear him far, He hoped to see his Pilot face to face Now Tom has crost the bar. Farewell my friend. Carl E Moses I knew Mr. Casey a long time ago as a young girl and I remember him as a very kind, and patient man. He would smile and shake his head and give Ann and I this look that said "silly girls" when he saw us carrying on like we used to. He was a calm and gentle presence to me. A nice guy. The world needs more nice guys. He will surely be missed. So sorry for your loss.
