Obituary of Kenneth Henry Romer

Kenneth Henry Romer Sr. 74 passed away December 14, 2012 at home surrounded by family and friends. Ken was born on October 30, 1938 in Syracuse, the son of the late Kenneth and Violet Bell Romer. Ken served his country in the Navy in 1956 & 1957. He was employed at Syracuse China then moved to Cortland in 1961 and worked at Smith Corona and Edlund's Tool and Die before going to work for Norm Grant doing plumbing and heating. He then started his own business and became a licensed master plumber in 1974. He also served as president of the Master Plumber's Association of Cortland for several years. Three of his sons, Ken Jr., James and Ted also have become licensed master plumbers in the years to follow. Ken's interests included restoring cars, racing, dancing and he was also an award winning competition roller skater in the 1960's. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and animals. Ken is survived by his children Dana (Laurie) Piwinski, Ken (Richanna) Romer Jr., James (Tina) Romer and Ted (Tammy) Romer. Ken is also survived by his grandchildren Steven, Michael, Kyle, Ryan, Leah and companion Marie Scott. A special thanks to Iva Knupp, Joe Barbarito, Sandra Romer, Tina Romer Cusson and Ronnie Romer. Ken is pre-deceased by his parents, sister Bernadine, brother Donald, neice Tammy Deyo, nephew Craig Deyo and neice Tammy Romer. Friends are invited to call Wednesday evening from 4:00-7:00 at Wright Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00am.
