Odette May (snyder)Foland, 94, of Cortland passed away April 7, 2013 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility. She was born December 19, 1918 in Utica, NY, the late Grover and Irene Darrigrand Snyder. Mrs. Foland was raised and educated in Utica where she received an R.N. degree at through Utica Memorial Hospital. She began her nursing career Fox Hospital in Oneonta where she met her late husband R. Max Foland. Soon after they relocated the family to Sidney NY, where she worked at The Hospital. She also worked at the Sidney Credit Union and worked as a private duty nurse, and assisted the election board. She was a member of the St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Sidney, and taught Sunday school. Odette relocated to the Cortland area in 2004 and has resided locally since then. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. Her family will cherish her memory as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all she knew. She is survived by her sons Robert (Camilla) Foland of Illinois, Gregory Foland of Norwich NY, her daughter Maxine (John) Seamans of Homer, NY, special daughter in law Ann Foland of Liverpool, her brother in law Tom Craig of Utica, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Foland was predeceased by her husband R. Max Foland, her son John Foland, her sisters Jane Treisbach, Betty Craig, and Genevieve Millbower. A service will be held Thursday 11 am in the cemetery chapel at the Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
