Carlton M.Hart 79, of Cortland passed away April 29, 2013 in the Cortland Regional Nursing Facility. Carl was born July 29, 1933 in Dryden, the son of the late Jessie and Edna Millage Hart. Carl had been employed at Pall Trinity for over 35 years, was an avid bowler being inducted in the Cortland County Bowlers Hall of Fame. Carl was a member of the Homer Fire Department Frank K. Taylor Hose Company, then became a member of the Cortlandville Fire Department on March 2, 1982, he was Past President and PastFire PoliceCaptain and was awarded Firefighter of the year in 1986 and 2010. Other awards presented to Carl were Member of the year 1995 and, 2004, Driver of the year 1991, and Fire Police of the year receiving this title on 4 different occasions. Carls dedication to the fire service will be missed by all members of the fire service in Cortland County. Carl is survived by his wife of 18 yrs, Deborah Emery Hart of Cortland, his children David (Patty) Hart of McGraw, Brian (Stephanie) Hart of Colorado, Scott (Melanie) Hart of Texas, Jeffrey (Cathy) Hart of Texas, Kem (Ken) Baker of Nichols, Heidi Hart, of Texas and step children Carl (Heather Watson of Ohio, Charles (Amy) Watson 4th of Ohio, and Carla Carrigan of KY. Sister Bernice Owens, of Homer, Marjorie Fulton of Trumansburg, sister in law Helen Hart of Cortland, many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great grandchildren,and two great-great granddaughters. In addition to his parents, Carl was predeceased by his son Carl Jr., sister Velma and, 6 brothers Funeral Services will be held 11:00am Friday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland. Interment will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery Dryden Friend are invited to call Thursday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
