Edith P. VanDenburg 90 formally of Homer, passed away July 26, 2013, in Auburn. Edith was born June 2, 1923 in Groton, the daughter of the late Burrell J and Mabel Lewis Preston. She was a 1942 graduate of Cortland High School and went on to graduate from Binghamton Business College in 1943. She married her late husband, Arland Van Denburg, in 1944, and was co- owner of Central Paper Box in McGraw. Ediths memberships include Order of Eastern Star Lodges 222 in Homer and 559 in Cortland, Order of Amaranth Dianna Court #54 , Little York Garden Club, United Commercial Travelers Club, and a member of the Homer Avenue United Methodist Church. Edith is survived by her daughter Judith V. (Sandy) Gelston of Skaneateles, her grandchildren Jonathan (Jennifer) Gelston, Dr. Christopher (Rebecca) Gelston, Sarah (David) Poindexter, and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband Arland, sister Jane Clelan, and brother in law Marlin Clelan Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery Homer, friends are invited to call one hour prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Ediths name is asked to consider Cortland County Loaves and Fishes 13 Court St. Cortland, New York 13045.
