Obituary of Charles Morse

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charles W. Morse, 60, of Homer passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Upstate University Medical Center. He was born February 8, 1958 in Cortland to Floyd and Evelyn "Ella" Stevenson Morse. Charles loved visiting the Country Music Park to show off his dancing skills. Everyone would agree that he was the life of the party. He always wanted to have his friends and family near him and when he couldn't be with you, he would call to let you know he was getting ready to mow the lawn - in January and other nonsense. It was his way of staying connected and we knew it was just because he was thinking of us. Charles was an avid gardner and he loved offering and giving away the veggies he grew (which were fantastic). He loved attending the races in the summer at Skyline every Saturday. He enjoyed 4 wheeling and snowmobiling. When he wasn't doing that, you could always find him tinkering in the garage with cars, trucks and tractors. He loved doing mechanic work. In the summer and fall you could also find him out back splitting and stacking load after load of firewood that he sold to families and friends in need. His pride and joy were his grandkids; he would do anything for them, he had nicknames for all of them and loved teaching them how to drive anything, including his truck and tractors. In addition to his parents Charles is predeceased by his wife, Lydia of 39 years, brothers Eugene Morse and Francis Morse. He is survived by his daughters; Tamara (Steven) Sheehan of Payson, AZ, Holly (Jay) Stanley of Cortland, Deanna (Chad Lashomb) Morse of North Bangor, his son; Mark Morse of Homer, his sisters; Bonnie (Pete) Besner of Auburn, Connie Morse of Homer, 11 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles leaves behind numerous friends, including Kelly. Charles also leaves behind his canine companion Chewy W. Morse. Calling hours will be on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Wright-Beard Funeral Home at 9 Lincoln Ave. Cortland, NY, with services at 6:00 PM led by Pastor Guy Rathmell and Brian Hill.
