Lillian “Lil” M. Fiorentini passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Cortland Regional Medical Center on Monday, October 8, 2018. She was born on August 12, 1921 in Utica, New York.
She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Louis J. Fiorentini, son Louie S. Fiorentini (Shelly) of Cortland, daughter Linda Fiorentini-Battaglia (Frank) of Boston, MA, grandchildren Monica Fiorentini of Lisbon Portugal, Kelli Morris (Lee) of Owego, N.Y., four great grandchildren, brother-in-law Dick Fiorentini (Mary Anna), several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents Dominick and Jenny (Gentile) Corona, her sister Margaret (Corona) Selvage, her sister-in-law Melana (Fiorentini) Manderano and brother-in-law Tony Manderano.
Mrs. Fiorentini worked at Cresent Corset for her first job and then after marrying, side by side for 41 years at Fiorentini Jewelers (26 Main Street) until their retirement to snowbird in Boca Raton, Florida for 20 years.
She enjoyed traveling to many countries, cooking shows, her hot peppers, cookbooks, playing golf, and vacationing at their villa in Jamaica until they returned to live permanently in Cortland in 2010. We will miss her sauce and gnocchis and wonderful Sunday dinners together.
She was a resident at Cortland Park for the past 2 years in the Whispering Pines unit. The family wishes to thank the staff for their care during that time. They also wish to thank the staff at the hospital until C, 2nd floor, for the wonderful care given to her and her family during this difficult time.
The calling hours are Friday, October 12, 2018 at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., from 11:00AM-1:00PM. Services to follow from 1:00PM-1:30PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 4101 West Road, Cortland, N.Y. at 2:00PM.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude.
