Ronald Thomas Gauthier, Sr. passed away peacefully at his residence on January 11, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.

 

He was born in Auburn, NY on October 25, 1931 to the late Commodore and Loretta Gauthier. Ronald attended St. Mary's High School where he was President and Valedictorian of his class. Ron attended Broome Community College, upon graduation he served in the Korean War. After the war, Ronald obtained an Engineering Degree from Syracuse University. As a young man, Ronald was employed by General Electric in Lansing, NY followed by employment at Ithaca Corporation. Ultimately Ronald became proprietor of Cortland Machine and Tool, Inc.

 

Throughout his life, Ronald participated in many activities including hunting, fishing, gardening, wood working and archery. He was an avid golfer. Ronald was a member of the Cortland County Club for over 50 years where he served as President for three years. He was also involved in numerous boards and organizations in Cortland County.

 

Ronald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edda of Cortland, NY and their children, Cynthia Fiddler (Richard), Ronald Gauthier (Sharon), Loretta McIntosh (Gordon) and Paul Gauthier along with 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

 

A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, January 14 11:00 AM at St. Margaret's Church, Homer. Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland. Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
