Obituary of Dennis H. Levan

Dennis H. Levan, 67, passed away the early morning of Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. Dennis was born February 3, 1952 in Cortland, NY to Shirley B. Levan. Den was a wild child of the 60's living life to the fullest. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Viet Nam War. He returned home and married Karen Wakula. Den worked in construction. He suffered a motor vehicle accident in 1977 that ultimately resulted in irreversible brain damage and physical injuries. Den was cared for every day by his loving mother, Shirley Levan, for 37 years. Shirley devoted her life to caring for her only child. In 2014, Den and his mother moved to Cortland Regional Nursing Facility where they were able to play cards and spend days together. Den was predeceased by his mother Shirley, his wife Karen, and many beloved family members (Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and close family friends). Den lived at Cortland Regional NF for nearly six years. He was doted on by many staff members. Thank you to the Staff for the care and love they showed him every day.
