Michael A. Morgan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10 surrounded by his family at his beloved kingdom. He was born May 28, 1941 in Cortland, graduated from St Mary's Catholic School in 1959, and has resided in Homer for more than 58 years. He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth (McMahon) Morgan and William H. Morgan II, sister Margaret (Morgan) Perfetti, brother-in-law David Perfetti, daughter-in-law Maureen (Rossi) Morgan, and the love of his life Susan (Durkee) Morgan. He married Susie in 1961 and is survived by their four children, Bill Morgan, Michelle Connolly, Stacey (David) Magin and Betsey (Aaron) Schuhle. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and great-grandchild; sister Maureen Morgan, brother Matthew (Linda) Morgan, special friends Liz and Chuck Moore; and a number of loving relatives and friends. Mike would commonly respond "absolutely fantastic" to anyone who asked how he was. He loved his life, career, friends, community and most importantly his family. He started at the Genesee Brewing Company as a merchandiser in 1960 and worked his way up to regional sales manager before leaving to run his own wholesale distributorship from 1982 to 1997. He was a member and two-term chairman of the NYS Beer Wholesalers, and also won the NYS Sammy Award for outstanding beverage wholesaler during this time. He enjoyed volunteering for various community events throughout his life, and was a proud member of St. Margaret's Church, the Democratic Party, Cortland Elks (BPOE #748), Cortland County Hospice fundraising committee and Make-A-Wish Foundation. There will be drive-by visitation open to the public on Friday, September 25, 4-6pm at St. Margaret’s Church, 14 Copeland Ave, Homer. A private family funeral service and burial will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 11am, and will be streamed online for public viewing at https://www.facebook/wrightbeardfuneralhomeinc/. Due to COVID restrictions, the family is planning on hosting a Mikey-style celebration of life party with all of you at a later date.
