Obituary of David Bechtel

David Bechtel, 72, of Cortland, passed away on March 28, 2020, at University Hospital in Syracuse. David was born on December 19, 1947 in Upper Darby Pennsylvania, to his parents the late Russell Bechtel and Jeanne Leetch Bechtel. A graduate of Temple University, David earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree with a focus on English. 30 years sober, he was a proud AA member and a devout member of the Church of the Redeemer. Every day helping those in need, David was a wonderful example of a community servant. He loved watching football (go Eagles!), watching paranormal shows, Candy Crush, and word game puzzles. Earlier in his life, David loved to play guitar, softball, and bowl. He is survived by his son, Trevor (Karen) Bechtel; daughters Deborah and Nancy (Scott); his grandchildren, Jason, Dylan, Luis, Frankie, Alyssa, Liam, Sean, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Bechtel. Services will be held at a later date.
