Obituary of Janette Loomis

Janette Thomson Gilbert Loomis, 83 of Freeville NY went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2021 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City Janette was born on October 24, 1937 in Peterhead Scotland the daughter of the late Alexander and Isabelle Farqhuar Thomson. Janette came to the United States from Scotland when she was 16 years. She graduated from Cortland High School then worked at Woolworth and SUNY Cortland ASC which she then left to open a shop with her husband called Gilbert Machine and Model Shop in 1984, retiring and selling the family business in the early 2000's. Janette attended Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter Colleen (Eugene) Velten, Her son Gordon Gilbert Step son Victor (Kelly) Loomis, along with nieces and nephews. Beth (Frank), Laura (Ed), Jeanne, James, Rob, Corrine ( Bob), Scott ( Karen) Judy (John) Sue (Tim). Her Grandchildren Adiah, Erin, Emily, Son in Law Michael (Kim) Loomis. Step Grandchildren, Stacy, Becky, Chad and Matt. Cousins Dierdre, Betty Joan, Jimmy, Jessie, Dick, Norman (Pat), Jeanette (Craigie), Fran. Janette leaves many grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, She was predeceased by her first husband Gordon Gilbert, her second husband Victor Loomis, her daughter Kathleen Loomis her twin brothers Roy and James Thomson, step daughter Barbara Stith. A Graveside service will be held Sunday 12pm August 22, 2021 at the Cortland Rural Cemetery, 110 Tompkins St., Cortland NY 13045. A "Celebration Of Life" will take place at a later date.
