Obituary of Roger D. Mules

Roger Duane Mules , 73, of East Homer and Truxton, N.Y. passed away peacefully with family members at his bedside, on July 7, 2022 at the Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a short illness. A Service will be held at the East Homer United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 6, 2022 with Visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m.. Rev. Fran Cochran of the McGraw Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at East Homer Cemetery. Wright-Beard Funeral Home will be handling funeral arrangements, online condolences @wright-beard.com. Roger was born in Cortland, N.Y. to Franklin and Lela (Mallery) Mules on March 9, 1949. A 1967 graduate of Truxton Central High School and 1969 graduate of Cobleskill Agricultural Technical College, Associate Science Degree, US Army training at Ft. Belvoir, Va. Receiving honor diploma for Army Corps of Engineers surveying, weapons control and ground support, serving at Ft. Hood, Texas and Weisbaden, Germany. He was employed by Gerald Young Farms, East Homer Chair and Wood Shoppe, Little York Plantation Land Scaping, and Carl Hinkle Black Angus Farms, Truxton. Roger was an avid motorcycle rider, traveling one summer throughout the United States on his favorite Harley Davidson, and enjoyed hunting deer and turkey with friend, Alfred Marshall. Surviving are close personal friends, Alfred and Mary Marshall family, his brothers and sisters; Robert (Margaret) Mules, Elaine Sykes, Barbara (Johannes) Ahrens, Rev. Catherine Lee, and Douglas (Pauline) Mules and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Franklin and Lela Mules, niece, Angela Smithkin and brothers in law, Malcolm Sykes and Benjamin Lee and his faithful dog, Lady. Family wish to extend our gratitude to the Syracuse VA Medical Center, 6th floor ICU Unit staff for their concern, compassion, and un-wavering commitment to Roger's care and also to his friends at his favorite eating place, Poole's Diner in Truxton and Rainbow's Coal Yard in DeRuyter.
