Obituary of Kent Louis Finkelstein

Kent L. Finkelstein, 81, of Cortland, New York, lost his battle with Lymphoma on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. He was born December 8, 1940, in Cortland New York, the son of Myer Finkelstein and Pauline Sickmon Finkelstein. Kent was a graduate of Cortland High School – class of 1958. Ken was a fun loving, intelligent man who loved his hometown and lived his life in the company of good friends and loving family. He was an excellent golfer and was the club champion of several golf tournaments in the Central New York area. From 2003 to 2018, Kent was the sole proprietor of Louie's Backyard Steakhouse on Tompkins Street in Cortland. He established a yearly tradition of free Christmas meals to anyone in the community that needed a place to come on Christmas Day for a hot meal and warm companionship. Besides his parents, Kent was predeceased by both of his brothers, Eli Finkelstein and Jack Finkelstein. He is survived by his eternally grateful son, Jon Finkelstein. His bond with his son was his greatest joy. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. Dad - I love you. See you again soon.
