Obituary of Anna Gilbert

Anna Gilbert, 89, of Cortland NY passed away March 30, 2023 at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. Anna is the daughter of the late Ivan and Ethel VanDee. Anna was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. She was the backbone that held her family together: loving, kind and strong. Anna was loved and accepted by everyone who crossed her path, and a friend to all. She will be loved and missed greatly. Everything Anna did was for her family. Her biggest joy was spending time with them. She loved to cook, feed her birds and squirrels, bingo, playing her games and trips to the casino. Anna worked at Jaline Togs, Crescent Corset and Cortland Corset as an inspector where she retired at 76 years old. She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Sandy) Samson, Sharon Gilbert, Judy Ingrahm, Susan (Gary) McCall, Kelly Baker, and daughter-in-law Kathy Gilbert. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as her sister Bessie King and close family friend Carol Ulrich. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband M. Calvin Gilbert Jr., son Mark Gilbert, son-in-law David Baker, great granddaughter Alexia Haynes, sister Margret Gaines, and sister Esther Mascato. Calling hours will be Wednesday April 5, 2023 at 10 am, at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave. Funeral services will immediately following at 11am, with live streaming available at www.wright-beard.com under Anna's obituary.
