Obituary of Janis L. Parker

Janis L. Parker, 88, of Marathon, passed away on June 30, 2023. She was born on November 24, 1934 in Port Alleghany, PA, to her parents the late Carl Froebel and Luella (Haskins) Froebel. Janis made her career at the Marathon Central High School, working as a guidance secretary. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church as well as the church's financial secretary. In her spare time she was an avid reader and accomplished quilt maker. Janis is survived by her loving family, sons John Parker Jr. and Roger (Elizabeth) Parker; grandchildren Jonathan, Daniel, and Jacob Parker; and her siblings Francis E. Froebel, Carl T. Froebel and Judith Froebel Edmonston. In addition to her parents, Janis is predeceased by her loving husband John Parker Sr. in 1999 and her sister Barbara Froebel Tryon in 2021. A calling hour will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cortland on Wednesday July 5th from 10am to 11am, with a service to follow at the church at 11am.
