Obituary of Don H. Ellis

Don Hughes Ellis, 87, of Cortland passed away on July 9, 2023 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1936 in Stamford Connecticut to his parents, the late Archie Ellis and Hazel (Watkins) Ellis. Don was a proud Marine, serving from the late 1950’s in to the early 60’s. He went on to start his own company, Don Ellis Trucking. He was an avid bowler in his earlier years. Don’s business even sponsored youth bowling teams. Don is survived by his children, Jeff of Ithaca, Robert of Mississippi, Tamara of Cortland, and Cindy of Endicott; two sisters Barbara and Deleen; as well as several grandchildren. He is predeceased by his loving wife Ethel Ellis and his son Donald L. Ellis. Graveside services with full military honors, will be held on August 5, 2023 at 11am, at Cortland Rural Cemetery.
