Obituary of Annemarie Hess

Annemarie Hess, 89, of Homer, NY passed away on Tuesday August 1, 2023. She born December 20, 1933 in Hofheim, Germany. Annemarie was an avid gardener and known for her amazing, beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She also was a talented baker and cook. She also did a lot of canning to help with her big family. She was involved in the German club where she met a beautiful group of friends. She was strong and devoted in her Catholic faith. She loved books and had quite a collection. Together, her and her husband David raised nine children while living in Homer. She is survived by her children Beatrice (JR) Duncan, Chris (Shelly), Felicia Evans, Paul (Maureen), Philip (Julie), Marita (James) Linnstaedter, and Thomas “TJ,” her siblings, Wolfgane Seidemann and Elizabeth Koppler, of Hofheim, and her 22 Grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her late parents Joseph and Margaretha Stippler Seidemann, her husband David WM Hess, her son Winfried Hess, her daughter Katie Canfield, her son in law John Evans, her grandson Shawn Duncan, her 2 brothers Joseph and Willie, and her infant sister Gertrude. A special thanks to Kassy for taking such loving care of her Oma so she could be home. Calling hours will be held on Monday August 7, 2023 from 11am-1pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, NY. A funeral service will follow at 1pm with Father Dennis Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
