Obituary of Nolan T. Ray

Nolan T. Ray, 33, formerly of Cortland and Astoria, New York, died unexpectedly on August 25, 2023. He was a 2008 graduate of Cortland Senior High School, earned credits while in high school from Tompkins Cortland Community College, and was awarded the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Syracuse University. He was most recently employed by Apple Inc. as a systems analyst/program developer. Nolan was pre-deceased by his father, Steven E. Ray, grandparents Gary and Janis Hoellerer and Helen (Ginger) Ray. He is survived by his mother, Juliene Hoellerer Ray, sister Shevaune Ray, brother-in-law Nick Willams, niece Teagan Minor, and nephew Tristan Ray-Williams, aunts Sheila (James) Peck, Suzanne (Jack) Kapcha, and cousins Laura (Brian) Anderson, Rachel (Jim) Wallace, and Rebecca (Stefan) Somers and their families, step-mother Erin Ray, and countless friends. Nolan was brilliant, funny, adventurous, and above all, kind. He was bright shining star who burned out far too soon. He is grievously missed by all who love him. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life for Nolan will be held on Saturday, September 16 at the Port Watson Mini-Conference Center, 131 Port Watson St. Cortland, New York at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Willet at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI.org) or the Treatment Advocacy Center (treatmentadvocacycenter.org).
