Darrell Lynn Carter, 76 of Cortland passed away on September 18, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 28, 1947 in Cortland a son of the late C. Douglas and Sylvia Smith Carter. Darrell graduated from Cortland High School class of 1965 . Darrell served his country with the United States Army from 1966-1968. He owned and operated Carter Development. Darrell loved nothing more than spending time with his family and dogs. His greatest happiness came from his children. He was passionate and supportive of all the children's endeavors. He was their greatest fan. When he was not home, he could be found at his shop working on his vintage cars, race cars, or building something for his children. Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Michele, two sons, Daniel and Michael Carter, two stepdaughters, Brittany Seeberger and Jena Griffin, two brothers, Douglas Carter, Craig Carter, a sister Carol Masterpaul, four grandchildren, Craig Griffin, Jaycee Harshfield, Makenzie Seeberger, Joseph Seeberger, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Joseph Masterpaul. A celebration of life event will be held on Saturday September 30, 2023 at the family home at 911 State Route 222, Cortland, New York from 2pm to 4pm.
