Obituary of Soan Samola

Soan Samola passed away at the age of 92 years old. She was a resident of Cortland, NY though was born in Manado, Indonesia on July 17, 1931. She passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her daughter and among family members on November 28, 2023 at 01:20 a.m. Growing up in Indonesia, Soan was the 3rd of 5 siblings (Djok, Juliana, Soan, Siu, & Song). While in Indonesia, she lived through and survived during the Dutch colony, the Japanese invasion, 2nd world war in the pacific, and Indonesian civil war. She and her husband (who preceded her in 2014), moved to the US to be with her children and lived in New Jersey and New York for many years. The apple of her eyes had always been her children (Freddy, Netty, & Hanny who passed in 2018), 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She loved traveling, pets, and animals, and she loved cooking for her family and was always caring to anyone she came in contact with. She was active at her church as one of the founding members of the Indonesian Pioneer Seventh-day Adventist church. Those who knew her, remembered her as a woman of style. To her family she was a woman of prayer and a believer in the faith. Calling hour will be Sunday, Dec. 17, 12-1 PM with a Funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Lincoln Ave, Cortland, NY. She will then be brought to Indonesia to be buried next to her husband in Kawiley, Manado - Indonesia.
