I first met Jerry just a few years ago when I joined Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 377. He quietly took it upon himself to research the deceased names on the Cortland Vietnam Memorial and discovered that there was a Cortland County name missing from the Memorial. Jerry's work made it possible to have the missing name added to the Memorial. In addition, Jerry, out of his own pocket, had hard bound booklets containing all of the deceased names professionally made and donated two when I was with him. One to the Homeville Museum and the other to the Cortland County Historical Society. A quiet man that asked for nothing in return. Jerry was a proud Navy Vietnam Veteran, Patriot and friend.
RIP Brother.

Jerry, we always felt you and Jackie were the guardians of the upper end of Brown Ave and we were the guardians of the lower end of Brown. Only 14 houses on our street, we were more than neighbors, we were family. We all looked out for each other and rallied around in times of need. After each blizzard we would all gather with our snowblowers and shovels to help each other dig out. It was like a family reunion in the middle of winter. Our street has had sad times and good times, we will never forget either, but we will dwell on the good times like this picture portrays. You will be missed. Rest in peace our friend.

God Bless your Gerry, We go back so many years. I remember riding around In your Ford Falcon hanging out and having a blast. You were the best friend that was always there for me when I was going through so many difficulties in life. I am so grateful to you. I remember staying for a short time at your parent's place for a while on Owego St. I will always be grateful for you looking out for me. You and your wonderful parents took me in and made me feel right at home. Rest In Peace Gerry and God Bless You. Love to you, Steve Odum.
