Roger had another passion as great a football and cars.
He befriended those who most needed a friend and helped them through difficult times. There are many students that may not have made it through school without his guiding hand. He was a very respected and loved friend to many students in his time at Homer.
Whenever I was with Roger at the Homer football games there was always a steady stream of visitors that came by to say hello to "Mr. Rawson." A hug, handshake, or kiss on the cheek would also bring a smile to his face. It was great to see.
Will miss my friend for sure.

I just saw the news about Chip. I have lived in North Carolina for 20 years now but was living in Cortland before that. After high school Chip had accepted Jesus at some point along the way and I actually attended a weekly men’s bible study that Chip held at his house. Chip figured out that that life without faith can be a miserable existence with all the challenges of life. Chip’s faith had a strong impact on me because even with all of the challenges Chip faced, he was at peace and generally a happy guy, especially when the topic was cars. The Chip I saw each week was very different from the Chip I knew in high school and for the better. We always had a good time and good conversations. One of the great benefits of following Jesus is that you get to go to heaven so I feel good right now about where Chip is at. So see you on the other side brother!!

I met Roger when he lived in Sempronius and that is when I discovered we both had a love for muscle cars and yes he loved his camaro. Drive, Roger, drive.
