Obituary of Lonnie L. Marcey

Lonnie L. Marcey (76) passed away on June 1, 2024, at Wilson Memorial Hospital (UHS) in Johnson City. Lonnie was born on March 29, 1948 in Cortland, NY to Maurice and Kathryn (Church) Marcey, the second of ten children. She was a lifelong Central New York resident, with brief stints in Pennsylvania and Colorado. Lonnie worked in manufacturing jobs at McGraw Box Company and Cortland Crescent Corset. She loved her friends and family, and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She always looked forward to birthday lunches and shopping trips with her sisters. Spending time with her son and grandchildren brought out Lonnie's best smile, as she beamed with pride about them and all that they were doing. Lonnie also loved being outside and going for rides in the country, finding a beautiful and quiet spot to set up a lawn chair and read a good book. She crocheted many blankets over the years for friends and family and was always looking for gifts and cards for others. Lonnie was also the self-proclaimed "entertainment" wherever she went. She enjoyed music, dancing, and playing cards or trivia games. Lonnie was predeceased by her parents, Maurice E. Marcey and Kathryn (Church) Marcey; several siblings, William Marcey, John Marcey, Julia (Marcey) Baker and Mary Marcey and her son- Mark Bonham. Lonnie is survived by her son Christopher (Karen Poole) Bonham, granddaughter Jenny Bonham, and grandson John Bonham, as well as her sisters, Renee Gates, Grace (Ron) Overbaugh, Roberta (Ed) Mahler, Laura (Ed) Marcey-Jones and her brother Peter Marcey. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Wright-Beard Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland on Friday, June 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow in North Pitcher Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. There will be a gathering at the North Pitcher Community Building (located on the grounds) immediately following.
