Diane Sylvia Allis Abdallah, 79, of McGraw, NY passed away January 10, 2021 at the Guthrie Cortland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 15, 1941 in Cortland, NY, the daughter of the late Miner and Doris (Reynolds) Allis. Diane was a lifelong resident of McGraw, NY. She was employed as the Director of Nursing for 32 years at the Cortland Nursing Home. She later served as the Director of Administration for 2 years at the Groton Nursing Home. After an additional 7 years she retired from Walden Place as the Coordinator of the Dementia Unit. She also served as an instructor at BOCES giving the practical for certified nurse's aides. She was a past member of the Cortland Rotary, Kiwanis, McGraw American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, past director of the church youth group, and a very active member of the McGraw United Methodist Church serving as a trustee. She was a devoted and giving member of the community always caring for others. Diane passed peacefully on January 10th around 11:30 p.m. She had a quiet and comfortable last earthly day. She is at peace now and therefore, so are we. Diane is survived by her husband of 58 years, Burt Abdallah; her son Matthew Abdallah; Rowena Adamowski (Scott); (Diana) Julie Hancock (Jeff); her brother Richard Allis (Johnnie); her sister Kay Birdsall (Rod); grandchildren, Kristen and Nick Adamowski, Ben and Megan Abdallah, Zachary, Tyler, and Erica Hancock; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday May 21, 2021 10-11 am with a funeral service to begin 11 am at the McGraw United Methodist Church, Main St., McGraw NY. burial will follow at the McGraw Cemetery. Contributions may be made to "Memorial Fund" McGraw United Methodist Church 20 E. Main Street, McGraw, NY 13101.
